FFS, the game I was playing? MIDDENLAND (Who starts at 3) was at 9 fealty before The Golden Order - who started at 8. Plus the random 5% chance of a raise is unreliable. Especially if Authority events aren't proccing, let alone Fealty.
Likely before you can even have a chance in hell of getting over there, so bam, lose 2 Imperial Authority, making it even harder to confederate other Counts. The Vampires, Drycha, and Azhag can do a lot of damage to them and all. While it can be very very quickly screwed over before you can even do a thing about it if one of the counts falls (And they fall, a lot) to something. There's no easy way to get Fealty from even those who like you. While the politcs thing is also very, very random. Way too slow, garbage tier elite cavalry? WTF? Compare to say, Elves or Dwarves who remain viable well into midgame, or even Endgame (if only as garrison/secondary armies) Their T1 troops are all but worthless after early game. Hell, even Vampires start with 1+ heroes. Let alone more.Ĭompare to many other factions, especially modern ones, which start with at least a hero. And you won't have T3 until turn 15+ most likely. And top it off with terrible troop options, Empire T1 infantry is frankly, garbage tier. The rebels in every other part of the province. Not even a single hero to help him out until you get a Quest battle a few turns in. Their big issues - at least for Karl Franz - is his start is awful. So yeah, playing exploitatively shouldn't be needed just to play a campaign. I gave up on a game that to that point I'd probably played more than any other by a long shot.
